About the School
A piece of land, which was personal property of then Maharaja Kirit Bikram in the palace compound, was donated by the Maharaja to Maa Anandamayee. Standing before the plot of land Maa Anandamayee murmured & said that something good will come up this land. This plot of land has also a historical past of its own. About 120 years ago. the Maharani Tulsibati Girls School, which is a premier educational institute for girls in the state with Bengali medium, was on this plot of land when from it was relocated in its present location.
Education was the prime priority of Maa Anandamayee and shee attached highest importance to it. In her opinion, if the people are properly educated, the prosperity in all its dimensions and defense of the country is automatically taken care of. Possibly keeping this in view, she installed the deity goddess Saraswati in Saraswati temple here where saraswati is worshiped every day.
Keeping the ideals of humanity and traditional values of indian culture in view, the English medium co-education school "Maa Anandamayee Vidyapeeth" was set up in the year 2003 and it started with 22 students in the pre-primary class. Since then, it is growing steadfily although at a relatively show pace due to financial constraints because it mostly survives on charity for its infra structural development. Of late, Shri Manik Sarkar, C.M., Tripura, has been kind and good enough to give 6.01 acres of land to the school at Lembucherra on lease basis at nominal rent. This will help the school to build a apportriate building to accommodate 2500 to 3000 students catering to the needs of the local people of that area in the matter of an English medium CBSE affiliated school. the engineering drawing for a 5 storied school bulding with the provision of lift, elaborate laboratory facilities for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and computer, auditorium, open air theatre, various indoor games as well as outdoor games like football, cricket, hokey, volleyball. tennis etc. has been prepared by a renowned W.B. Govt. approved Architect firm of salt lake city, Kolkattaand it has been submitted to the state Govt.
The proposed Lembucherra campus of the school will not only cater to the needs of Lambucherra with its surrounding village. It will also take care of the studens from Agartala, particularly of the senior students from Class VI up words from Agartala.
While the planning part relating to the first phase of the project Viz. Raising of the English medium Higher Secondary school is complete, its execution on the ground at Lembucherra still awaits due to the factors like:
1. Constraints of fund :-The school at its present location in the palace compound started with zero fund. The existing 3 storied building came up due to generous donation ⁄ financial help from a small number of persons. The school also runs on charity. To complete the proposed school building including electrification, furniture, fixtures, laboratory instruments ⁄ equipments ⁄ apparatus, along with infrastructure development for the proposed indoor and outdoor games, compound wall etc. an amount of Rs.100 crores is needed to complete the 1st phase. If around Rs.30 crores or so could be got as grant from Govt. be it in installments or otherwise, or as a donation from non govt. sources or as a combination of grant and donation as seed money to art with the balance amount of Rs.70 crores could be arranged by the school management to complete the 1st phase.
2. Encroachments :-Soon after the land was given on lease to the school by the state govt. some local people erected some so called fencing, fixed some posts and partly constructed some huts including one complete hut and raised opposition to leveling of land which was a pre-requisite for undetaking the construction works. The position has been reported to D.M. and to the govt. for a peaceful solution. Reactions from the D.M./Govt. are awaited.
3. Existance of a H.T. Electrical transmission & L.T. line with towers :-A H.T. Electrical transmission line and L.T. line with L.T. and H.T. tower passes and stands on the plot of land leased out by the govt. for the school. Although requested, the T.S.E. Corporation Ltd. Apparently has not takenany action to relocate the aforesaid tower and the H.T. line so far and unless those are relocated & removed from the plot of land in question, no action can be taken to start even the preparatory work for the site development to be followed by other constructions.
While efforts are on to locate the fund as seed money as aforesaid, the matters relating to encroachments and electric transmission lines have been referred to the state Government for appropriate needful action at their earliest.
